Party Details:
My little V* recently turned 3! She is such a sweet girl! Since V* LOVES all things fancy and playing “dress up” is her favorite; I decided it would be a real treat to style up a FANCY, dress-up, Tea Party for her 3rd birthday!
I wanted this party to have a very timeless feel. I used Waverly tablecloths and my Grandmother’s china. I tried to keep all of the decorations simple, incorporating in bits of vintage lace, pearls and lots of fresh flowers in V’s favorite colors (pink, lilac and cream).
Envisioning this party, I knew that I wanted the main decorative elements to be in the food presentation!
All of the beautiful fondant toppers for this party were designed and created by Nikki Berry of NikkiikkiN. Nikki was a joy to work with! The pieces she created for this party were SO beautiful; like little edible pieces of art! Nikki’s work reflects her talent and her attention to detail. My favorite touch was the gold luster dust that she incorporated into each topper to reflect the gold detailing on my grandmother’s china – so special! I used the toppers to embellish sugar cookies, cupcakes, and the pink bundt birthday cake. The pieces Nikki created coordinated with the party so seamlessly, you would have never guessed they were created in NYC and shipped to MI just days before the event!
This was an intimate afternoon party, just a few special guests; so I kept the menu simple. In classic tea party fashion, we served a variety of hot teas as well as a few kid-friendly options: sweet tea and fresh pink lemonade. Lunch was a chilled pasta salad (one of Vs favorite dishes!) During our tea, guests enjoyed an assortment of breads, cookies, crackers, fresh baked mini-muffins, lots of fresh fruit, mini-cinnamon rolls and chocolate covered strawberries. Yum!
The party took place at our home, where I removed many of our more modern decorations and replaced them for the day with more “traditional tea parlor” elements – such as a collection of vintage porcelain tea cups on the shelves, and monogramed tea pots filled with fresh flowers. I switched out all of the photographs that we have framed around the house and replaced them with “vintage” versions (I created the vintage versions of the photos using Photoshop)
To break up the room and create a more distinct area for the party, hubs and I draped pastel cloths over the ceiling and created a faux chandelier from paper lanterns and strings of pink and white pearls. This is a super easy “wow-factor” for all types of parties! Simple buntings made from ribbon and paper doilies, over a vintage lace tablecloth served as a back drop to the buffet table.
I created the custom tea pot invitations. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the tea pots and attached them to the front of shimmery, lilac colored cardstock. On the backside of the card, I created a clear pocket which contained a hand cut “tea bag” with all the party details. I tied a thin piece of string to the top of the bag and attached the “tea bag” to the invitation by creating a small label for the tag and simply gluing it to the front of the card. Invitations were wrapped and placed in shimmery lilac envelopes, which I addressed in my best-attempt-at-calligraphy :) V* and I hand delivered each one. She LOVED passing out the invitations and asking everyone to come to her party! This girl loves a good party! ;)
Since no Daydream Believers Shindig would be complete without a custom birthday outfit – here is a look at V’s!
I created this dress especially for V. It featured a super-full, ultra-twirly, two layer skirt, a sweet sash, comfy elastic at the empire waist and soft ruffles criss-crossing on her back. The fabrics came from various lines, featured a combination of classic florals, modern florals, and sweet gingham in shades of rose, lilac and cream. The stunning headband was a custom piece created by the wonderful Shake Up Snow Designs. We love this headband! It complemented V’s dress perfectly! For part of the party, the headband was worn as an embellishment on the birthday girls pink tea-party-hat. Completing her birthday outfit, a custom bubble necklace (by Daydream Believers) and bow topped gloves (Target).

We had a fabulous time! The party came together exactly as I envisioned it would and V* LOVED seeing all of the ladies dressed in their fanciest attire!
